Monday June 15--Brought To You By Purina



Today is a completion of the First and Second series. The single test dog is scheduled to run at 6:45 am under under warm sunny skies with a light breeze. The first running dog is #74, handler Jim Powers took the mat at 7:00 am. He had a no bird and had to come back in six dogs and was followed by the remaining twelve dogs. There have been three handles so far out of this group of dogs. The dogs that handled were #77, #79 and #82.



The test was in the books at 8:22. The Third Series: A Short Channel Blind

Here's two shots of the test, the second one being a close-up.



There is a 75 yd entry to the water. The line to the blind includes a left hand point and then a 60 yd channel. The bird is placed up and out through a pair of goal-post trees at approx 100 yds from the end of the channel. The wind direction is mostly downwind with a little bit of a right to left breeze. The test began at 9:41 after the Test Dogs ran. It doesn't seem to be causing too much trouble for the field so far and most dogs are up to the challenge.



It's 3:40 and we have sixteen dogs left to run. The channel of water has provided a challenge for many of the teams and the wind has switched and become stronger, allowing the dogs to wind the bird at the end. There have been a few very nice jobs. When asked what makes this blind so challenging, one spectator observed that the dogs were being asked to cross this water three times yesterday. The flyer station was on the left and the other mark was on the right and both of these areas are well scented.

A Scrapbook of the Day





Here's the information for the Fourth Series which will be a water triple in the 'Horse Pasture' field. The test dog will be at 6:30 am and the first running dog will be at 7:00 am.

The last dog is going to the line right now. The test is in the books at 4:38 pm. Everyone is looking forward to a Walleye Fish Fry Dinner hosted tonight by the MIRRC at 6 pm. Callbacks to come...
