The Conclusion of the Ninth Series

The first Test Dog, Fannie, has just run at 7:32 am. The test has changed somewhat as the sun is rising and now the long guns are standing in the shadow of the far treeline. The breeze is blowing briskly from the northwest. There are eight dogs left to run this morning. #3 is the first dog to run and was handled to the bird. Half of the remaining handlers have run. We now also have a handle on dog #24.

We're down to the last dog, #28. We've had handles on #26 & #27. The test is in the books at 9:07 am. We have to have a bye dog run for the honor for #28. Callbacks to come...

The Tenth Series--A Delayed Water Quad

Click on the diagram to make it larger.

There are 17 dogs back. The Callbacks for the Tenth Series are: 15, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, 28, 34, 68, 71, 80, 85, 95, 102, 105, 106 and 109.

There are five dogs dropped, they are: 3, 50, 53, 72, 107.

We are starting with dog #102 at 10:54 am.

This series consists of a Delayed Water Quad with all drake mallards. There are two flyers that are close on a hillside, as well as a deep, long left middle retired and a long right retired. The first bird down is the long left retired which is thrown right, down the hill into some cattails on the shoreline—250 yds. The second bird down is the middle right which is thrown right down the hill to the shoreline of the far pond—200 yds. The right hand flyer, thrown to the left, is close to the line and has a sluice—100 yds. The delayed flyer on the left is signaled by the judges once the dog is sitting and has delivered the bird to the handler. It is thrown to the right and lands in the water and is sluiced--120 yds.

The sun is high in the sky and the wind is coming from the northwest. #102 and #15 have handled so far on the long left retired. There was a no bird for dog #109. #21 will be a rerun because the flyer did not go where it was supposed to.

#22 had a nice job; #24 had a no-bird flyer; #26, #27 and #109 handled on the left retired. We have run eight dogs so far. #28 had a very good job!! #21, #24 and #34 had handles.

Picture Perfect!

A late update as the series progresses: #68 and #71 both had handles. #80 is on the line right now. #80 had a handle and #85 also did. #95 is on the line right now...and has just handled. It's almost over folks...the test is in the books at 4:28. More to come...
